Giving The Truth This Christmas, The Truth About Your Tomorrows

SUMMARY
As the new year approaches, Pastor Jay calls for a fresh resurgence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers to provide the stamina needed for the "laps of life". Drawing from the baptism of Jesus, the message explains that being filled with the Spirit allows individuals to see spiritual battles more clearly, love others through divine affirmation, and walk closely with God even in difficult times. The service concludes with an invitation for personal recommitment and practical action steps, such as engaging with the Bible and finding places to serve, to ensure the church remains a living, empowered body.

Good morning, please join us in singing Great is Thy Faithfulness. Great is Thy Faithfulness, O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with Thee. Thou changest not Thy compassions in their light, as Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be. Great is Thy Faithfulness, Great is Thy Faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see. I have needed Thy hand that provided, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto Thee. Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, sun, moon and stars in their courses above, join with all nature in manifold witness to Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. Great is Thy Faithfulness, Great is Thy Faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see. I have needed Thy hand that provided, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto Thee. Pardon for sin and love, peace that endureth, guide our dear presence to cheer and to guide. To wait for today and pray, hope for tomorrow, blessings of life with 10,000 beside. Great is Thy Faithfulness, Great is Thy Faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see. I have needed Thy hand that provided, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto Thee. And there is great, great hope in His name. When we sing this morning, let's pretend like we really mean it. And after a while you're going to find yourself believing that you do. Amen? Amen. There is great hope. There is great hope in His name. There is great hope in His name. There is power to heal the sick and the pain. To avenge the broken clean, there's a dying way to pay. There is great hope and power in His name. There is great hope in His name. We will never be the same. For the heart that conquers fear brings a little heaven here. There is great hope and power in His name. There is great hope in His name. There is power to heal the sick and the pain. To avenge the broken clean, there's a dying way to pay. There is great hope and power in His name. There is great, great hope. There is great, great hope. There is great hope and power in His name. There is great, great hope. There is great, great hope. There is great hope and power in His name. Sweet and sharp candlelight. Sweet praise unto the maker. Short of the voice. Never doubt the voice of the Lord. Sweet and sharp candlelight. Sweet praise unto the maker. For the Lord, He is almighty God. This is the day of celebration. This is the day to rejoice. The Lord our God is our deliverer. So, let's just lift it up. Sweet and sharp candlelight. Sweet praise unto the maker. Short of the voice. Never doubt the voice of the Lord. Sweet and sharp candlelight. Sweet praise unto the maker. For the Lord, He is almighty God. Sweet and sharp on your hands. Give praise unto your name. Make joyful noise. Give praise unto the Lord. Make sound of your hymns. Give praise unto your name. For the Lord, He is almighty God. For the Lord, He is almighty God. Lord, I lift your name on high. Lord, I love to sing your praises. I'm so glad you're in my life. I'm so glad you came to save my life. Came from heaven to earth to show the way. From the earth to the cross, I came to make. From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky. Lord, I lift your name on high. You know what I feel like is happening here? How many of you have ever been to a stealer or pirate game where they have the wave? Now, I know that we did that here once. But it's kind of like the wave starts and then it stops and then it starts and then it stops. You have ruined the wave. Because you're not all clapping together. In fact, half of you aren't even clapping. It's like, why did my alarm ever go off this morning? But I'm here. I guess I have to be. Let's do things together. Can we do that? Did Jesus call us the body of Christ? There are definitely toes that are moving and arms that are, you know, like, apathetic. So, let's all put our hands together. We're going to sing this right and do it together as one. There you go. Lord, I lift your name on high. I love to sing your praises. I love to sing your praises. I'm so glad. I'm so glad you're in my life. I'm so glad you came to save us. Now, sing it out. You came from heaven to earth to show the way. From the earth to the cross, my death you made. From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky. Lord, I lift your name on high. Lord, I lift your name on high. And the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, just like the waters cover the sea. And the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, just like the waters cover the sea. The strength and the purpose of his kingdom. His people are ashamed to proclaim his name. The fullness of the Lord fills all in all. And the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, just like the waters cover the sea. And the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, just like the waters cover the sea. And the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, just like the waters cover the sea. And the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, just like the waters cover the sea. Let's just come into a place of agreement right from the start this morning. Lord, we thank you that the promise of your word and the assurance of your word is that when two or three gather in your name, you are there in the midst of them. And in every way, we know possible, Lord, not with our strength and not with our might, but our spirits cry together, Lord, come. Holy Spirit, come and fill this one on my right today. Make him or her new in Christ today. Come, Holy Spirit, and flood that one on my left with your presence and your power, your redeeming power, Lord. Not that we might be more religious. Not that we might be so strange or unusual as to look any different than anybody else, but so that we can absolutely in every way be filled with the power from on high that comes as your Holy Spirit enters ours. We invite you, Holy Spirit, to come and fill this place now. Have your way among us. Do a wonderful work among us. In Jesus' name we pray. And if you meant that, just squeeze that in and join with me in amen. Before you're seated this morning, I would like to first of all acknowledge those of you who may be visiting with us. It's the holiday time, and I know folks come in from out of town. Some even come in from in town as guests of ours. If you're a guest of ours today, the only way we can know that because everyone's standing is you have to put your hand up high and wave it in just a moment. But we'd like to slip a little packet of information into your hand if you're visiting with us and give you a warm North Way welcome as well. So, all across the room, all North Way people, you have to go down like this so that everybody's hand is going to be seen. Put your hands up and wave them to us if you're visiting with us so that we can acknowledge that. Welcome. Thank you. Over here. Who's visiting over here? Anyone? Put your hand up. Back here, welcome. Thanks for joining with us this morning. And now before you're seated, go ahead and turn to one or two people. Oh, that's right. Inside that packet that you just got is a 3x5 card, among other things. Fill that out during the service if you wouldn't mind and slip that in the offering basket a little later on. That's the only offering we would be asking of you this morning. Now, how many of you experienced Christmas three days ago? Only a third of them are here so far, Pastor. Before you're seated, find someone that you haven't yet said hello to, welcome them, share your name with each other, and share your very favorite Christmas present this year. Go ahead and do that. Take a minute and do that, and then you can be seated. Well, this was an opportunity for you to be diplomatic, wasn't it? If you met somebody new, then you could have shared exactly how you felt. If you were standing next to your spouse, it was whatever she gave you, right? I mean, that had to be the way it worked. Good morning, everyone. It's been a great Christmas season here at North Way. I've felt as though the services of the last week or so were just among the best we've had. I want to say, David, you're doing a great job with the cantatas and everything. Then this last Wednesday morning, Christmas morning, many of you participated in the prison ministry outreach by providing the cookies and all. We did make the 700 dozen cookies, homemade cookies, and got them all down there. I wasn't allowed to go. My previous record, they wouldn't let me in. David went down. Just in about two minutes, say exactly what happened. It was great, Jay. It was like a movie. What happened at the very end was we did Christmas carols and stuff like that, but at the very end, the warden gave us extra time. He said, No, well, you know what I mean. In my case. But he said, You guys can go on for longer. He goes, Oh, we have some inmates who would like to do some songs. Well, the crowd, 700 men, they went wild. Two guys came up, and one guy sang, Oh, Lord, my God, that thing. It was unbelievable. Then the second, this other guy came up with a voice like Luther Vandross. He came up and did this song called Amen. I didn't know the tune, but started to learn it as he sang the first verse, and then Rosa got up from the corner singing. Oh, man, it was unbelievable. There were guys on seats. It was great. I would say there must have been like about 200 guys that stood to recommit their lives or give their life to the Lord. It was unbelievable. A really fascinating thing that happened. Gary Sabora, who kind of leads that part of our prison outreach, did the preaching, and you may know that Gary's dad, who's quite elderly, was just a few blocks away in Mercy Hospital, just about dead. Gary had to leave the hospital room to go down to do the service and had to muster all of his emotional reserves to do that and to proclaim. He asked me, he said, Do I have to do this? I said, Gary, what a great time to declare your confidence in the gospel in the face of such a thing. Well, you know what the neat thing about God is? The next day, Carol and I went to visit Gary's dad because we heard he was just about near death. We walked in the room, and here he's sitting up, starting to take some refreshment and so on and acknowledging our being there and responding, and we prayed together. I don't know the report as of today, but I know he was improving greatly. So, it was kind of like the Lord said, Well, you follow through here, and I'll take care of your father. So God's been wonderful. He's just been so good. He cares about our needs, church. He does. Sometimes I know if you're like me, I don't always sense that it's happening, but I know that He does. Sometimes I just have to hold on when I don't see it. I just have to believe that because He's a wonderful God. So many of us have been giving of ourselves over these last weeks and reaching out to people and inviting them to church or sharing with them where we are or serving them Christmas on the hill or whatever. We wanted this service just to be a time of refreshment and a time of sort of a forward look for we who are committed to the purposes of God here in this church and through the congregation that's assembled here. And the first place we need to come to do that is at the throne of Jesus to worship together. Amy Schering is going to come and sing a very beautiful worshipful song for us that will kind of bring us to the Lord's presence together where we can lay our burdens and cares and concerns. It's called We Shall Assemble. We shall assemble on the mountain We shall assemble at the throne With humble hearts into His presence We bring an offering of song Glory and honor unto the Lamb Unto the King Hallelujah, Hallelujah We sing the song of the redeemed We shall assemble on the mountain We shall assemble at the throne With humble hearts into His presence We bring an offering of song Glory and honor unto the Lamb Unto the King We sing the song of the redeemed We in this sanctuary We have all we have Only You are holy Only You are worthy to sit upon In this sanctuary We have all we have Only You are There is no one Worthy to sit upon In this sanctuary We worship You Our Lord, Lord prepare me To be a sanctuary Pure and holy Tried and true With thanksgiving I'll be a living Sanctuary for You Lord prepare me To be a sanctuary Pure and holy Tried and true With thanksgiving I'll be a living Sanctuary for You Let's do it once again Just the ladies singing We're joining Lord prepare me Lord prepare me To be a sanctuary Pure and holy Tried and true With thanksgiving I'll be a living Sanctuary for You We worship You with our song and with our heart Lord we present ourselves to You as one people this day And Lord we acknowledge that apart from Your presence Lord we can do nothing to please You Lord we have no strength of our own We have no courage of our own Lord We have no discipline of our own Lord But thank You that today by Your Spirit and by Your presence Lord we look into the new year with anticipation and with faith And I pray like I have never known before Lord that You would break any bondage from this congregation just now Lord Any sense of smallness or limitation or fear Lord of shrinking back to the old Lord And we would as a people embrace the new In Your presence Pour out Your Spirit upon us Lord That we might touch this city. This nation and this world With whatever grace You poured out Pour upon us now God of great courage God of great courage Let's sing it out church This is a declaration Force of our strength Let us achieve it Of unity So that with one heart With one soul to praise We may glorify You Lord All of our days God of the nations God of the nations Lord of the earth Teach us to serve So that with one heart With one soul to praise We may glorify You Lord All of our days Force of our strength Let us achieve it Of unity So that with one heart With one soul to praise All of our days Lift your voice up Just a word of praise Speak your exaltation now Lord we bless Your name Lord in one voice and with one heart today We would declare Your Lordship Lord You are worthy to be praised Far above everything we could imagine Lord And ever need We exalt You as Your people Lord In this place today Lord we will to praise You In the name of Jesus Father Let us be all that You want us to be God. We love You We adore You Lord We receive Your presence now Lord in this sanctuary. We worship You alone In Jesus name And everyone say Amen You may be seated everyone Well while you're turning in your Bibles to Matthew chapter 3 I'm going to encourage you all to do that and get your outlines out I rarely make mention of headlights being left on and so But there is a Mazda 626 ZBI 184 it looks like And there's another car with a New York license plate FTX 918 Oh that's Pennsylvania? Well make sure we take care of that one It's a blue gray car We don't want anybody to come out and feel like God punished them for coming to church All right Let's look in our Bibles to Matthew chapter 3 And uh We're reading the text of Scripture By the way in your North Way notes there should be a little outline that we always prepare as an effort to help you Go beyond the sermon and Take some things home with you to discuss with friends or your spouse or whatever. Let's begin in verse 13 just to get some context here Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him saying I need to be baptized by you and do you come to me? And Jesus replied, let it be so now It is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness And then John consented And as soon as Jesus was baptized he went up out of the water And notice these things that happened And at that moment heaven was open. And he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him And a voice from heaven said This is my son whom I love With him. I am well pleased And then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil We won't read all those next verses Most of you know, that's the great temptation of Christ Where he fasted for 40 days and nights and confronted the devil Verse 11 gives us the outcome And then the devil left him and angels came and ministered to him One of the most popular fundraisers that's out there these days for non-profit organizations Schools and CPCs and so on. Are the jog-a-thons and walk-a-thons. How many of you have had someone ask you to support them when they did some laps in one of those things? I mean everybody's kind of into that. It's a great way to raise some money. My most memorable encounter with the jog-a-thon concept Was several years ago when Eden Christian Academy had an event like that. And they commandeered the old Coffman's parking lot Which is now the Giant Eagle down in People's Road. There was nobody in there at that time. And so they were able to get that facility And of course I always have a number of people here in the church Who freely ask me to support them I think it's like, well pay me back now or something But my son, Jonathan, was one of the runners And I can't remember exactly how old he was then Not real old, maybe seven You know, wasn't real big or whatever at that point in his life And he said, Dad, will you support me? I said, sure I will And he said, how much per lap? What do you think I asked him? How big is the lap? You know, what is it, around two cars? You know, you could do a thousand of those And no one really seemed to know And I finally got some information He said, well it's about an eighth of a lap I said, well that's a pretty long way for a little guy like that John, I'll tell you what I'll commit a buck a lap Big guy, you know And I'll give you at least ten bucks Even if you don't make it He said, good enough, Dad Well I was a little late getting there It was a hot Saturday afternoon as I recall And I got there late And they were already doing this thing And I kind of snuggled my way up to the front line A lot of people around this big course all laid out And I see these runners out there And they're like, you know, sweat stripping down them And they're really into it And I look and here's Jonathan He's still humming along I said, what lap is he on? Twenty-six I think he finally Somewhere like twenty-nine or so laps Is what he finished out with That was incredible for like a seven-year-old kid I mean, that was over three miles I'm thinking, how did he do that? I mean, where did he get that kind of reserved stamina? You know, I mean Now his granddad was a boxer And he had some stamina You know, his dad wasn't a bad athlete But it wasn't enough I mean, the genes really weren't enough To get a little guy to go that far And I kind of looked at this And, you know, there was a few things happening there To pump him up I mean, there were his friends And, you know, who wants to be the first friend to fall out? That kind of thing And then there was the parents And the people along I said, go You know, hand them Gatorade And keep going So there's all this like adrenaline happening And that's what enabled him to go far beyond What he really probably should have As a little guy at that age I want to talk to you this morning for just a bit About how we're going to go on into 1992 What's going to give you the strength To keep running the laps of life That most all of us live You know, we all wish we had these glamorous kinds of lifestyles That never were the same How many of you feel each morning you get up and just run another lap? Yeah, you know We get that an awful lot in our lives, don't we? You see, every person who was born into Christ As most of you are You have a gene pool to draw from I mean, you have the greatest gene pool in all the universe That of the Son of God You know that when you're born into Christ You have been given the nature of God in your spirit But that basic resource isn't always enough To meet the special needs or demands in our lives I'm not talking about raising money for Christian school I'm talking about power to rise up and face a crisis when it comes You know, if you're the parents of a teenager That's in a severe automobile accident What do you draw on in that moment of crisis? As one of our families was this last week What do you draw on when God calls you to launch Into a new relationship for ministry's sake Or a new venture of faith? It takes more than adrenaline That's just good for a moment And by the way, let me just digress a moment and say There are a lot of Christians out there Who just go to a meeting for some adrenaline And they kind of confuse what it means To be just sort of pumped up in a meeting With what it means to be really filled With the spirit of Jesus Christ And to have a release of that If I'm going to go into 1992 And I'm going to live spiritually On the sharp cutting edge If I'm going to live morally pure If I'm going to live ethically above board If my character is going to be, you know, above reproach And if I'm going to have anything left to give to other people Dear ones, I need a fresh Here's the word Resurgence of the Holy Spirit I need a fresh filling of the Spirit of God Turn in, on the overhead please To Ephesians 5 If we could flash that Ephesians 5 scripture up there Paul writes in Ephesians 5 Yeah, it's the Greek word Plus through There it is Alright Pleruste That Greek word in Ephesians 5 Where Paul writes And by the way, to the church at Ephesus Which is one of the most mature congregations In all the Bible They had been Christians for a long time When Paul wrote this letter And he says to them Don't get drunk with wine Which leads to debauchery Instead be filled with the Spirit Speaking to one another In Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs The word to be filled with the Spirit. Right there in the Greek Is literally translated Best translated Be being filled Or keep on being filled If you were filled when you were First a Christian. That's wonderful. That's not enough for 1992. If you were filled 5 years ago When you came to a fresh Baptism in the Spirit. Wonderful But that's not going to get you through 1992. Paul writes and said Be being filled Let it be today. Let it be this day The 29th of December 1991. So that you can be prepared for tomorrow And the next day This is a very important concept And I think so many Christians Again I'm speaking to those of you who know Christ Many Christians don't realize That as wonderful as it is To be filled with the Spirit today If you're like me you just leak a little bit And I need a fresh resurgence A fresh infilling Day by day by day To face the lapse of life And to overcome the obstacles That get in the way of pleasing Christ Dear ones let's look back now here At this scripture where Jesus comes on this scene Here he is Now we just had Christmas on Wednesday 30 years have happened Okay let's just let Fast forward in the old VCR for a bit Now it's 30 years later And Jesus is right here Coming to the waters of baptism He's lived a sinless life He's been perfectly Sin free Something none of us can claim And yet God the Father Determines that right at this point Before he goes on Into his next lap of life That he needs to have a filling Of the Spirit in his life A resurgence An outpouring of the Spirit of God You think that there could be a better gene pool Than what Jesus had He was the Son of God He couldn't have any more than he did But then he comes to these waters And God says I'm going to do something new in your life And you and I stand here today We're at the same point God wants to do something new Through the church Just like he did through the life of Jesus You know I meet with a group of men Every Friday about 7 o'clock in the morning For a couple of hours And these are men who love the Lord Been Christians most of them for 15 or more years And it's amazing to me Because I believe they're typical of many of you We spend the first hour Or so of our time just sharing The nature of our struggles as men Don't you relate to that? I mean the struggles to be An honest businessman In a dishonest culture The struggles of being Men who bear responsibility But have temptations in their lives And I know something I know if it wasn't for the fact That we cry out to God for each other. As I do with some other people here in the church That I would be susceptible To losing the race Instead of winning it As I look into 1992, I want to say to each one of you Which is it going to be? Are you going to run In God's power or on your own? That's the decision The choice that each of us have to make Let me share with you briefly three things that happen When the Holy Spirit fills us Because we see it here in Jesus' life Let me just jump ahead and talk to you about that for just a moment Three things that I see Alright first of all It says in verse 16 The heavens were opened The heavens were opened and then secondly we're going to see That a voice spoke And then thirdly we're going to see That Jesus was led up into the desert And I put three words on this When the Holy Spirit fills your life afresh. The first thing you're going to do is see more clearly Alright that's in your outline See more clearly. The heavens Were opened Now the Bible has three specific One time in Psalm 19 It says that the heavens declare the glory of God And the earth shows forth his handiwork What heaven is the Bible talking about In Psalm 19 when it says that It's talking about the sky Now we walk out there today we're not going to see a lot of glory In the heavens But I understand by Tuesday or Wednesday The sun's going to shine again We'll get our three days’ worth this winter And go on with it The heavens declare the glory of God That's not what this verse is talking about in Matthew 3 Amy sang a wonderful song About the heavenly place Where God dwells The throne room of grace That's not the place That heaven where we will ultimately reside with God That's not the place this is talking about here The heavens here Are talking about that other dimension of life That's just as real Just as tangible Just as Involved in who we are As what we see and touch and feel And yet that which most of us Totally disregard Now If you've been around here for the month of December I've been referring to this recent book called The Day America Told the Truth Talking about the true values Of the people that you and I Rub shoulders with out in the world today. There was a study that was referred to in here About what people think about Spiritual things This is a secular book and just one chapter was on this Listen to some of this Most Americans believe In an afterlife 82% in fact 50% believe that there is a Satan of some kind 46% believe that there is an eternity In heaven And that they're going to be there What percent do you think there is an eternity in hell And they're going to be there Four Just four percent I should tell you what most people think about how they're doing on the curve Which they think they'll be graded on Okay 45% of Americans Believe in ghosts. Maybe the movie had something to do with that 25% believe in black magic. And many people Believe that there is a dimension Out there that they can access Somehow that impacts this life But it's a dimension that they can't really see Or touch or feel Unfortunately They tend to think of it kind of like Disney World or the Magic Kingdom It's kind of spooky and you get there And then you come back and maybe you're hypnotized But somehow or another They just don't know what to do with it And yet we read here That Jesus was filled with the spirit And led out into the desert Where he confronted who Satan And Jesus encountered a personal devil And his demon hordes And spent the next three and a half years Encountering true beings In that spirit world Which were impacting lives Bringing sickness on people Destroying families Tearing down Esteem Do you believe there's a world out there That's set for your destruction Do you believe that the enemy Has designed specific strategies To pull you down and to defeat you The fascinating thing to me As I did some studying Was what Christian people think about the spirit world. We have a little overhead A pie chart for those of you who are a little more Analytically inclined. Here's what a 1991 survey By George Barna discovered That about 47% Of Christians In what we would call evangelical churches like ours Think that the devil is just sort of a An evil force Not an evil Being with a strategy And a design to pull you down Isn't that shocking I'm not saying that's true for you But that's the average in churches like ours And about 49% Believe that he was like a personal being You see If you ignore what the enemy can do When you don't see clearly into the heavens You are susceptible To your life coming under the influence Of demonic power that can destroy God's plan And purpose For you, that can cause Your marriage to go through Tremendous turmoil And you don't know why That can cause your kids to rebel And abandon you And forsake the things that are important to you And you don't know why To cause your business to be under Constant oppression And you don't know why Church, we need to understand something The Holy Spirit will fill us And help us to see more clearly What's really going on out there If we'll allow him to do that And I want to make an appeal today To all of you Let's not fumble blindly Into 1992 Let's ask the Spirit of God to fill us So that we can have the heavens open And see who our enemy is The devil comes for one reason To steal, kill and destroy Actually three in one Jesus said I've come to have They might have life and have it more abundant Do you have any idea Why you're going through some of the things that you are You say well I don't know what to do about it Ask God to help you to see more clearly You say well I don't believe it unless I can see it You know people like that I don't believe it unless I can see it Prove it to me How many people have colds here today Uh huh You might want to slide over a chair or two How many of you saw that cold coming I mean you just saw it was written On the side of a germ that you saw No, you never saw the germ did you In fact it was passed mysteriously You say well if I had a microscope I would have seen it There's many things happening out there today That you don't see that are literally happening I mean In fact right now. There are waves going through this room. Some that would produce sound And some produce beautiful colored pictures If we had the right equipment to receive them We could tune in Now You don't believe in it Unless you can receive it It's the same way Go over to somebody in Africa and say You know what right now there are airwaves out here Right now there are pictures And there's sound in the air but you just can't see them They'd say you're nuts Given the right equipment They could receive it Likewise here folks there's another dimension there That we need to tune into and to see I just want to say to you today I'm concerned That we've let heaven kind of close Over our eyes just a little bit And if that's the case We won't make the progress that God wants us to make In 1992 It's not easy But it's necessary If we're to go on And run through those laps of life And overcome I have to say to you Things can happen The enemy can come in in the strangest ways If you're not prepared for it In our home we find lots of times When we can't explain why we're kind of at each other. You know for whatever reason About six months ago, I was on my way out to a very important retreat with some leaders from the city Other churches and other ministries, and it was like a strategy session. We were going to plan how we were going to impact Pittsburgh in 1992 In fact Ray Bakke Who's going to be here on the 8th of January That Wednesday night Was going to be part of that meeting And I remember And I'm sure you remember I was getting ready to go on that retreat And I came down the steps and I was kind of late And fumbling and something happened How many of you ever had just something happen You don't even know what it was Something wasn't ready I forgot something I was supposed to do Something happened and we just In an instant I became like the nastiest person in the North Hills I know you can't believe that But that did happen. And so, we shot back and forth a little bit And I started to go down and said I'm going to go on my retreat I got down to the car and said this is stupid I'm going to be real spiritual here. And to st
