And we'll also see tonight the incorrigible man who spent six years in this program. But first, Kathy, the amazing story of what could be the literary find of the century. You remember it was just three weeks ago that scientists exposed the Hitler diaries of fraud. Now in the north hills of Pittsburgh, just outside a little Christian bookstore, a discovery that will make the world forget all about his diaries. Here with us in our that's incorrigible studio is Ms. Sue Straw. Miss Hay, I mean Miss Straw thinks she has stumbled upon upon the long lost Howdy Doody diaries. Incorrigible. Ms. Straw, before we ask you some specific questions about your adventure, let's give our viewers a little background. It was almost 20 years ago that Howdy Doody made his last public appearance in the Pittsburgh area. A trombone concert. A trombone concert for the Beaver High School. Howdy Doody Booster Bobcats. Howdy Doody was never seen again. Only some suspect that Howdy Doody personal belongings including his diaries are still in the area. Now Ms. Straw, just how did you come across these manuscripts that you believe to be the work of that little comic puppet that captured the hearts of millions? Howdy Doody? Well, I was thumbing past this open door bookstore and I saw all these. Snicker bar wrappers loafing all around the dumpster out there. So I went to check them out. Interesting. When I looked inside the trash here was this box of paper with all these meaningless scribble on it. You mean like this copy of the diary we have right here? Yeah, that's it. Only some blockhead could have written like this. Then I came across that flyer. Oh, you mean the Beaver High School Howdy Doody Hooser Blobcast. Yeah, that's when it struck me. Those lost Howdy Doody diaries. Thank you, Ms. Straw. Well, we went to great lengths to find one of the few Howdy Doody cast members still alive to authenticate Ms. Straw's claim. Clarabelle Horne Clara, would you please come in? Now, Clara Belle, you've had the chance to look over these papers. Do you really think they're the work of your old friend Howdy Doody? Now that's incorrigible. Finally, we have tonight our own handwriting expert to help you decide for yourself if these. No, these. Are the genuine howdy Doody Diaries. Dr. Peabody Periwinkle. Doctor. Doctor, what can you tell us from your own analysis of this handwriting about the person who penned these diaries? Well, lan, After careful analysis I'd say that the person who penned this was obviously either uneducated or didn't want people. To understand these diaries. And I think that Howdy Doody fits. Both of these scenarios. Anything further, Doctor? Pardon me? Anything further? Well, I'd hate to have to be the secretary that had to read this mess. Doctor, I just have one final question. Are these the genuine Howdy Doody diaries? All indicators point to the fact that. This may well be that the work. Of that wooden headed puppet. But except for one thing. They're all signed by a Gentleman Name. Of Dr. John Ellsworth Passavent III. Why Dr. Passvint is in our audience tonight. Doctor Passement, would you join us up? I really. The first thing I want to say before I forget it is just your being here means an enormous amount to me. Just being here, even if you had nothing to do with any of this, and you were as surprised as I am, just being here is very special. And I guess most of the tears and the things that. I don't know how long I can talk with this on. Most of those things that poured out in the first hour are being washed away, and that's incorrigible and so on. But there's a few things I know that I must do before the evening's over. One of them is repented, and I made it out here. It really is. Carol will tell you that she's tried on numerous occasions in our marriage, which is almost 13 years now, to pull little surprises. I mean, even like, guess what we're having for dinner. And I can usually do it. And I really have to say, to you, it was a tremendous victory. It does Indicate that I am getting a little older and a little slower. I really even. You know, when you. The obvious things fit together, like all the clocks in the house. But, you know, Carol, Gee, the power must have went out. Sure it did. When you see the storms we had today, I bought that, you know, power. Went out. And couldn't find my watch. But, you know, we found Mickey Mouse substitute here that I grabbed at the last minute. Got that. So when I hit the Bell Federal time, you know, outside there by the McDonald's on McKnight Road, that Bell Federal, and it said 7:04, I went right up into the sunroof, you know, that's when I start to repent right there, because I. Well, I got out here faster than normal, which is pretty fast anyhow. And you know, really, seriously, the Lord has, in the last two hours, done a remarkable thing in my life through you people. And I. It's impossible to describe to you what has happened because of your willingness just to say that you love me and share my joy. One thing that I want to say is this. I don't feel at all worthy of you people, and I mean that. And I don't mean that to beckon anything from you. There are pastors that I know who are serving people all around this country and around the world who never had an experience like this. And they served longer and probably harder than I have. And so I count it a great blessing from God that you would take the time to express your love to me. Second thing is that most pastors who do have people that love them like you do never find out until they leave. And that's when these kind of things happen. And it really struck me that at least I don't think I'm leaving. Is that what this is about? Better open this letter. But I mean that it's wonderful. It's unbelievably freeing to know that. To know that you're loved and that you don't have to wait. And if any of you, for any reason, haven't told someone that you love, that you love them and that you rejoice with them or that you weep with them or whatever the case may be, learn from tonight that it means an awful lot. It's a tremendous blessing to do that. I don't know what will change from tonight on. As Ray promised, you'll never see this again. But it was kind of delightful to try it on. Anyhow. I really won't even go back over the last weekend. And I. I came home today and Carol was unbelievable. I came home and talked about the morning, and we rejoiced at the lovely morning the Lord gave us and the music that was given and the praise and worship and the gal that came to the Lord and so on and so on. And, you know, I told Carol, so we honored the graduates. But Grant forgot me. Not quite like that. I mean, I was a little harsher, But even then I didn't. I didn't even, you know. You know, Grant was downplaying this whole thing from day one. So I figured, well, he just fell. You see, I got a lot of repenting to do. Anyhow, I did, you know, I spent a few minutes getting ready for this morning. I'm just kidding. You know, the Bible doesn't say a whole lot about doctors. The only thing really of significance that I could find was that the woman with the issue of blood suffered much under many doctors. So I don't know what that means to you, but you can interpret that any way you want. I don't know that anything will be any. In fact, I know it won't be any different. I know that all this means is that you have shared with me in an enablement in my life. That's really what I see this whole thing as being. And I trust that my enablement will become yours, that what God's been able to. To cram into this degenerating body and brain will somehow pass its way into your degenerating bodies and brains before it's too late. And I mean that with sincerity. So thank you very much. And know that. But this has been one of the most special things that's ever happened to me. And I mean that indeed, it was a surprise. But one thing that I'll leave this with you. I don't know what you think about in the day that we will then come to be with the Lord. But I have a feeling that I. The things that Grant touched on and his word and others have kind of highlighted to me were all captured. Because when I opened that door, I saw faces that were saying, we love you and welcome and we rejoice with you. And I just. Those three things are what I expect are going to be awaiting each of us when we cross the threshold to go to be with the Lord and that we're going to be welcomed in and we're going to hear people say, we love you and we share the joy of your accomplishment in being with us. Beloved, God has done much for us and with us, and I trust that he'll continue to make this community A place where people can fully experience the love and the joy of Jesus as you've shared it with me tonight. And I want to thank you, tell you I love you all. Thank you. I really got the feeling that as he was sharing with us that we accomplished a terrific victory. It seemed to him like a tremendous defeat. We rejoice, Jay, that the message of tonight is love and that that's what's perceived and received. And we rejoice in that.
